In this the 30th Year of Green Flag award, Chelmsford City Council’s parks have been recognised by the Green Flag Award scheme, as some of the best in the country.
Two of Chelmsford’s green spaces have been awarded Green Flag Awards for the first time.
Marconi Ponds Local Nature Reserve (first three images above) and John Shennan Field Local Nature Reserve (fourth image above) are the latest to be recognised, joining the 17 Chelmsford City Council parks which have all retained their awards. This brings the full tally to 19 Green Flag awarded parks — the most in the East of England.
Hylands Estate, Oaklands Park and Admirals Park (including Tower Gardens) have also been recognised with retention of Green Heritage Site Accreditation for the management and promotion of their historic features.
Chelmsford’s parks help to create a better quality of life for all those that use them and offer everything for residents from sports facilities, to ornamental gardens and Local Nature Reserves. Open spaces connect us all to nature and the out doors and this award reflects the hard work the parks volunteers and parks staff have put in to maintain them to the highest standard.
