Saltcoats Park and Compass Gardens

Saltcoats Park specialises in sports facilities and is home to South Woodham Ferrers Cricket Club, South Woodham Rugby Club and South Woodham Ferrers United Football Club. In addition to the grass sports pitches, the facility also plays host to a skate-park and an outdoor gym. For the energetic, Essex Boot Camp runs an exercise group along Creekview, just outside Compass Gardens.

Compass Gardens is a more intimate area with a nautical theme, which features full-size anchors within the garden seating area. There are also ornamental and herbaceous beds and the public art project, ‘Marshland Mosaic’, wall which was created with the help of local artists and school children. There is well-equipped children’s play area and the park links to Woodham Fen, a marshland area rich in saltmarsh plants and unusual birds.
