Smallest Nature Reserve

Marconi Ponds Local Nature Reserve

The warm and wet weather has made everything on the reserve grow madly.  As we only meet once a month this always gives us lots of work to do and it’s a balance between making the reserve look inviting to both humans and nature. Keeping the paths clear is important as the cinder path leads to the activity trail which is well used by the public. Along the way there are many different species of flora. You may not spot much fauna but when it’s quiet, different species can be found on site including slow worms, newts, frogs, toads, fox’s, badgers, bats and many more.

We hope to get back to normal practical sessions soon and welcome anyone with an interest in nature to come along to our little oasis in the centre of Chelmsford.
