Come and discover your local parks!

This summer, we’ll be celebrating Chelmsford’s green spaces as part of the nationwide Love Parks Week, running from 24 July to 2 August 2024. With 17 Green Flags and 3 Green Heritage accreditations, our parks and green spaces are home to so many plant and wildlife species, ancient woodland to vibrant lowland heath, and even more to explore.

To mark the occasion, our Love Parks event is back – this time at Oaklands Park, just south of the city centre.

It’s free to attend and runs from 10am to 3pm on Friday 26 July, across the front lawn of Chelmsford Museum. Bring family, bring friends: just like our parks and green spaces, there’ll be something for everyone to enjoy.

The day will feature all kinds of activities, including:

  • Arts and crafts
  • Play in the Park
  • Parks vehicles
  • Hylands Forest School
  • Storytelling
  • Willow weaving display
  • Screen print artist
  • Wildlife societies
  • Allotment advice and information stands

Chelmsford Museum will be open during the event and refreshments will be available from the Hive Cafe.

No booking required – just turn up!

Please note: Parking won’t be available on-site except for blue badge holders. Chelmsford Museum has a list of alternative parking available on their website (under ‘By car’).
