Last weekend saw the first practical session of 2024 at Marconi Ponds Local Nature Reserve.

We had a dry afternoon and a large and enthusiastic group of 27 volunteers came along and got stuck into the tasks. With no flood water inside the ponds area, we were able to access all parts of the reserve and got lots done. The willow dome and arch were tidied, unwanted brambles removed, an area was cleared alongside the cycleway and tree whips were planted. The trim trail activities were also topped up with chip bark and a thorough litter pick was completed.

Many thanks to all those who were able to help.

The group meet once a month to help look after and work on the site and new volunteers are always very welcome. For more information, visit our website: https://www.marconiponds.co.uk/ and find out how you can get involved.
