Did you know that emails and other digital files contribute to your carbon footprint?
On average one email emits 4g of CO2 and while this may not sound like a lot, it is the equivalent of a light bulb turned on for six minutes!
Digital Cleanup Day is an annual day dedicated to raising awareness of the environmental impact of the digital impact on global emissions and how we can help by decluttering our digital lives.
How can you take part? It’s pretty simple, dedicate a small amount of time to delete old files, messages, photos, anything that’s a duplicate or you won’t need in the future. When we delete files it reduces the burden on data centres and reduce their energy consumption.
As well as reducing your carbon footprint, there are other benefits to a digital cleanup, including:
- Increasing your device lifespan.
- Making file navigation stress free!
- Reducing data storage security risks.
- Increasing disk and server capacity
