Tawny owls are found in England, Scotland and Wales but not Ireland.
As the most common resident owl species in the UK, you may recognise their famous call: ‘tu-wit, tu who’. A lucky Tawny owl in the pictures above has now seen his release back home.
The sweet owl was found trapped in the flue of a wood-burning stove and couldn’t make his way back out!
Here are some handy tips to help out any wildlife that may come your way, remember:
Keep your eyes peeled for any places (especially in gardens) where creatures could get stuck, and your ears alert for any sounds of a trapped animal.
Check any equipment before you use it if you might hurt something hiding inside – such as stoves or cars.
If you come across an ill or injured animal, contact a local rescuer.
