With memories of VE Day on the 8 May and VJ Day on the 15 August; the tank display on the multi-storey roundabout remains a constant reminder to us of the end of WWII.
The display of two tanks, one is a British Sherman tank and the other is a German Panza tank is a collaboration by Chelmsford City Council and local Essex-based willow artist Deb Hart.
The creation of the tanks started February 2020. Members of the parks team worked tirelessly with Deb on the tanks to get them ready in time.
The tanks were placed on the roundabout for the May Bank Holiday and will remain for Armistice Day on 11 November with the addition of two beautiful Poppy wreaths.
The positive feedback from the public on this display has been tremendous and signifies the importance of the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII.
