Competition winners: Name the Peregrine
Thank you to everyone who entered our Name the Peregrine competition! We were searching for names for the two willow peregrine sculptures coming to Oaklands Park, which will honour the J.A. Baker exhibition at Chelmsford Museum.
There were plenty of great suggestions, from the popular ‘Percy’ and ‘Falco’ to the beautiful ‘Celestia’ and even the clever ‘Falconi’ (a mashup of ‘falcon’ and ‘Marconi’).
We’re thrilled to announce that the peregrines will be called:
- ‘Horus’, named by Astrid Walls
- ‘Poppy’, named by Elsie and Rose Clark
In extra good news, we can also confirm that every single entrant will now receive a goodie bag!
We have contacted both winners and runners-up with how you can collect your prizes, which will be from the parks tent at this month’s Love Parks event: Friday 26 July, 10am to 3pm. Find out more about Love Parks here. It’s on this day that the finished sculptures – being created by Essex-based willow artist Deb Hart – should be installed and ready for you to view.
If you can’t pick yours up then, you can head to reception at the Civic Centre from 29 July until 9 August, Monday to Friday, between 10am and 4pm. Prizes won’t be available after that.
