Recycle your REAL Tree

Your Christmas tree is probably looking beautiful and sparkly right now, but what about when all the festive fun is over? Farleigh Hospice can collect your tree from your home on 10, 11 and 12 January 2025 and arrange for it to be chipped and recycled. It’s quick, easy and hassle-free. Register your tree and donate towards the charity’s important work

Christmas Tree Recycling 2025 – Farleigh Hospice

Repotting is an even better alternative if you have the garden space. Equally, you can chop your tree up into small pieces and place in your brown bin to be composted, or leave for a natural habitat, or take to the local Recycling Centre.

Christmas Jumper Day

Have you got your Christmas jumper yet? With Christmas jumper day just round the corner why not pull that one out from the back of the wardrobe instead of buying a new one, or if you want to mix things up this year swap with a friend or colleague.

 

Fast fashion has a massive carbon footprint so cut down your footprint by reusing and if you do have to buy one there are loads to be found at the charity shop and you could save yourself some pennis at the same time.

Battery Recycling

With more batteries being brought over the festive period don’t forget to make sure you recycle your old batteries correctly and NEVER place them in the black bin.

Christmas Cards

When you’re choosing your Christmas cards, consider selecting ones made from recycled materials or cards that are recyclable themselves. Every small step helps reduce waste and preserve the planet for future generations.

Once the festivities are over, remember to recycle your cards in your CARD sack (as long as they aren’t glittered or coated in foil, which can’t be recycled).

Please note that this message is different from last year and Christmas cards must be placed in your card sack.

Wrapping Paper

Buying Christmas wrapping paper is a fun part of the festive season, but when it comes to recycling, there are a few things to keep in mind.

Many in the shops can be recycled but watch out for plastic-coated varieties that can’t be recycled. Opt for wrapping paper made from recycled or sustainably sourced materials, marked by the Forest Stewardship Logo.

Once the big day is over, please recycling your wrapping paper in the paper sack.

Gift ribbon and bows must be removed and placed in the black bin

Brown paper should be placed in the card sack for recycling

 

No Waste Winter Meal

We encourage you to shop merrily with lists before you hit the shops, work out the portion size per person and have some leftover recipes handy for when you are feeling up to it, after all the roasts and chocolates that is.
